 Highly scalable through the addition of restreaming engine (XEngine) instances, with existing deployments handling the mass public distribution of video from as many as 5,000 cameras. HLS / LLHLS delivery can also overflow to a CDN edge for very large audiences. 

 Supports ingesting RTSP/S (including multicast), RTMP/S, multicast TS, and HLS / LLHLS streams, and restreaming them to browsers, mobile devices, workstations, video walls, recording systems, and external systems via RTSP/S, RTMP/S, SRT, HLS, LLHLS, and WebRTC. 

 Supports the on-demand ingestion of input streams, such that a stream is pulled from its source only while it is being viewed — ideal for metered / wireless cameras and resource-constrained hosts. A viewer request over any output protocol can start ingestion. 

 Supports the re-multiplexing and transcoding of input streams, to accommodate legacy formats or to reduce the bitrate, resolution, or frame rate of output streams. Several live streams can also be combined into one composite stream, viewed and delivered like any other. 

 Supports the multicasting of live streams via RTSP (RTP/RTCP), broadcasting to multiple recipients over a single private network connection. All streams share one hostname, which redirects each request to the serving engine or hands local viewers a multicast join. 

 Supports the publishing or ‘pushing’ of streams to one or more external destination servers, such as those of partner agencies or media organizations, configured on a stream-by-stream basis. Available protocols are RTSP/S and RTMP/S. 

 Supports ultra-low-latency streaming for applications requiring real-time video delivery, such as camera control and incident detection, with latencies as low as 250 milliseconds. PTZ, including presets and preset tours, works over ONVIF or NTCIP. 

 Supports controls for restricting stream access: request header and token validation, connection limits with automatic bans, and IP whitelisting / blacklisting. Users sign in with local accounts or single sign-on via Microsoft Entra or other OpenID Connect providers.
